Happy Spring!
Don't you just love spring?!?! Flowers on the trees, tulips everywhere,Farmer's Market just around the corner, and the entire Ozark Landscape getting greener and greener every day. Each morning Wade and I look at the hillside from our sun room and marvel at the rapid greening process. (We do this while also marveling at how fast the birds go through bird seed.)
I have once again committed the hopeful deed of planting seeds (cucumber, tomato, cosmos, cone flower) and am waiting for the last of the new sprouts to pop their heads out of the soil. I've been dropping hints to Wade about how nice it would be to have a tiny little green house. Just 8X8 or 10X10. Maybe next year. In the mean time, the seeds are safe inside those clear plastic containers that previously held lettuce. Instead of a green house, this year's project is a "cottage garden" in the front of our little house -- complete with native stone. We've talked about it for a long time and have decided this is the year! I'm so excited! I'll post pictures as the project comes along. And when you find me hobbling around the shop because of back ache -- you'll know why. :D
Now for a few Shop Updates...
First FIRST FRIDAY
Some of us decided to meet up for the FIRST First Friday of the year on Bentonville square -- for knitting in the open air. I soon discovered that even the basic "Feather and Fan" was too much for me to concentrate on -- with all the fun things going on around us. Note to self: Bring only SIMPLE knitting when visiting the square.
From left to right:
Stephanie, baby Cordelia, Bette Rae, Me, Carol--
Melly & Harper--
Charlie--
and of course Madison and Charlie--
Also thank you to Liz and Debbie for coming out -- somehow we missed you in the photos but we'll get you next time.
Hedgehog Sunday
Ashley has worked her needle felting magic once again and last Sunday turned out the first batch of new hedgehogs. Take a look--
Us knitters like to keep an eye on what the felters are up to... |
Creativity abounds... |
Three hours later -- hedgehogs are born! |
New Yarns / New Products
Check out some of the newest items recently added (or soon to make an appearance) in the shop:
Rowan Felted Tweed -- a must have for any colorwork project but also great for non-colorwork as well. It is machine washable!
Madeline Tosh -- we are scheduled for dying at the end of May -- yeah! so look for more MT in the shop in early June.
Classic Elite Firefly -- Perfect for Spring / Summer knitting and with 150 yards in a skein -- 3-5 skeins will get you a lovely spring tank or shawl. Firefly will be in next week.
Silk -- Think recycled Sari material or the silk that comes from a banana tree. Great for big needle knitting and cool to the touch.
Herdy -- think cute "sheepy" tape measures, mugs, stitch markers, tea towels, and more.
Till next time...
Happy Yarning!!!
